Chemistry Students Enjoy Lab

Clarendon High School Chemistry students have been enjoying labs lately. This week they learned that some metals are so reactive that they can catch fire in hot water, and that non-metals can be reactive too, but for a different reason. They also learned about several types of reactions and several pieces of evidence to determine if a chemical reaction has taken place. Chemistry is a hard subject to master for most students, in part because it is difficult to “see” atoms, protons, neutrons, & electrons. Lab work helps students see the result of electron transfer even though they cannot see individual electrons moving.
