Feels Like Flying

CJHS Girls Track

Girls Prepare for JH Track 2015
by Mattee J

“To say the least, it’s tough,” Kira W said one morning as the CJHS track girls were going out to the football field to begin their morning workout.

The girls prepared by working in the weight room; jogging, sprinting, and striding. The coaches had them work individually on workouts for their different events. The sprinters were timed and worked on short distances, while the mile or two mile girls ran longer distances on the field.

“If you work hard, and get the job done in here for about 40 minutes, it won’t be hard. You will all learn to enjoy it,” said Coach Gaines.

The First Track Meet
by Lisa Grahn

Clarendon Junior High recently had their first track meet in Quanah. Sandrea S., Kyla D., Emily J., and Faith K. participated in in the 800 meter relay winning first place. They competed against Childress, Shamrock, and Quanah.

“It was exhilarating, because whenever you take off it feels like you’re flying and your legs are numb, but you get to work with the most amazing team ever,” stated Faith.

“We didn’t really know exactly what we were doing but we went out there and got first,” exclaimed Sandrea.

“It was exciting because we were ahead and then we were behind and then we were ahead,” stated Emily.
