Clarendon CISD is proud to announce a significant educational opportunity for current employees and their families through West Texas A&M University’s Region 16 Excellence Initiative.
Eligible full-time Clarendon CISD employees—as well as their spouses and dependent children—may receive a 50% reduction in assessed tuition and mandatory fees at WTAMU. The initiative is available to full-time employees of school districts served by the Region 16 Education Service Center.
This opportunity can help a staff member begin a degree, finish one already in progress, earn an advanced degree or prepare for a new professional goal. It can also make a college education considerably more affordable for an employee’s spouse or child.
WTAMU offers 66 undergraduate degrees and 44 graduate degrees, with flexible options that include traditional, online and evening courses. The tuition reduction may be used for one degree at each level—bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral—as well as certain certificates and coursework leading to professional licensure or certification.
This initiative reflects what can happen when public schools and higher education work together. Clarendon CISD employees serve our students and community every day. How to Get Started
Interested employees or family members should first apply and be admitted to WTAMU. After admission, they must complete the Region 16 Excellence Initiative tuition-reduction application. Employment and dependent eligibility will then be verified. The reduction must be requested each academic year and is applied to assessed tuition and mandatory fees after approval.
Participants must remain in good academic standing. The program does not cover expenses such as books, housing, supplies, insurance, application fees or travel. Employees and family members may still apply for scholarships and other forms of financial aid.
