Clarendon FCCLA students assembled and sent home their first round of Snack Paks this week, helping ensure that 37 Clarendon Elementary students have nutritious food available over the weekend.

The project has become an important Clarendon FCCLA tradition under the leadership of Coach Kristy Benson. Over the years, students have turned their work with Snack Pak 4 Kids into two FCCLA competition projects and a UIL state-qualifying documentary. They also travel to Amarillo each year to help assemble thousands of Snack Paks for area children.

“This program has changed a lot over the years, but it remains an important part of the lives of every student involved—whether they are on the giving or receiving end,” Coach Benson said. “I love taking our students to Amarillo so they can witness the magnitude of the program and help prepare the thousands of Snack Paks sent home each week.”

For our FCCLA students, this is more than a service project—it is a firsthand lesson in compassion, responsibility and the difference they can make in someone else’s life.

Fun fact: Snack Pak 4 Kids founder and executive director Dyron Howell is a Clarendon High School graduate—another Bronco making a difference far beyond our community!
