Betsy Baughman

Clarendon CISD is proud to announce Betsy Baughman as the new head girls basketball coach for the Lady Broncos. A Groom native and four-year player at West Texas State, Baughman brings more than three decades of coaching experience across Texas, with a career record of better than 330 wins. She began her career at Horace Mann Middle School in Amarillo and has led programs at Happy, Seagraves, Crawford, Merkel, Mineral Wells, Tascosa, and Groom. Her Happy Cowgirls reached the state semifinals, and at Seagraves she won a state championship in 2005 and the Texas Cup. She also spent a decade leading the Tascosa Lady Rebels, where she posted multiple 20-win seasons and took the program to the playoffs year after year.

“Coach Baughman has built winners everywhere she’s been,” said Dr. Byron May, Superintendent of Clarendon CISD. “She’s known across the Panhandle as a builder, someone who develops players, strengthens programs, and shapes young women on and off the court. We are thrilled to welcome her to Clarendon.”

Baughman takes over a Lady Bronco program coming off a 22-12 season and a second-place district finish. With a number of seniors graduating, this year’s squad will feature a new group of players ready to step into larger roles. The Lady Broncos look to compete hard and build on the program’s tradition under their new head coach. Clarendon CISD is excited for the season ahead and for the experience and leadership Coach Baughman brings to the program.
