Mock Accident Scene from Shattered Dreams Program - No one was actually injured or arrested!IMPORTANT NOTICE: All Photos from this article are from a mock accident scene conducted as part of the Shattered Dreams program. No one was actually injured or arrested in this program. All the scenes were staged to demonstrate the deadly consequences of drinking and driving and distracted driving.
On Monday, March 25th, Clarendon High School and Clarendon Junior High students participated in the Shattered Dreams program hosted by the CHS and CJH Student Councils. With the cooperation of many local agencies, an accident scene was staged that was the result of drinking and driving. In the program, several students were killed, and the drunk driver was arrested and booked into the county jail. Students and teachers witnessed emergency crews removing the accident victims from the wrecked vehicles and watched them being transported off campus by an ambulance and the LifeStar helicopter.
The students who were the victims of the accident remained off campus the rest of the day to emphasize how their absence would affect the lives of their classmates and friends. They came back on campus Tuesday morning at the conclusion of the Shattered Dreams program after a video was shown about the accident and a mock memorial was done for the students involved. Lance Woods spoke to the students to accent how making good decisions and using wisdom helps students to avoid situations such as this. The students who supposedly died in the mock accident returned at the end of the program, and Chance Roland read aloud a letter that his mother wrote to him expressing how she would feel to lose him, and he read his response letter to his mother. It was a very touching closing to the program.
Mrs. Lewis and the Student Councils would like to express their appreciate to everyone who was involved in staging and presenting this very important program.
